רבינו הזקן היה בעצמו הקורא בתורה. פעם אחת לא היה בליאזנא בשבת פר' תבוא, ושמע אדמו"ר האמצעי - והוא עודנו נער קודם הבר מצוה - הקריאה מאחר. העגמת נפש מהקללות שבתוכחה הביאתו לכאב לב, עד שביוהכ"פ נסתפק רבינו הזקן אם יוכל להתענות. כששאלו את אדמו"ר האמצעי: הרי כל השנה הקוראים פרשה זו? ענה: כשאבא קורא "אין נשמעים קללות".

Hayom Yom (היום יום, “day by day”) is an anthology of Chassidic aphorisms and customs with one entry for every day of the Hebrew year. It was compiled in 1942 by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, at the instruction of his father-in-law, the Previous Rebbe.
